The Grimace Quilt is an accidental ode to the McDonaldland crew from the 1980s, specifically sweet ol' Grimace, with his beautifully pendulous purple body. It was constructed using a pattern from Toad & Sew.
I used fabrics that coordinated with a beautiful vintage floral sheet I sourced locally -- solids in red, chartreuse, and turquoise, modern geometric and brush stroke prints, an a joyous multi-colored confetti speckle.
This quilt was quilted by me, in my home studio, with one-inch vertical lines. The quilt is bound in the same vintage floral sheet as the backing, which truly gives this quilt two energizing and colorful sides to choose from!
Dimensions: baby size, quilt measures 48" (wide) x 48" (high)
Materials: top and backing made from high quality quilter's cotton and reclaimed vintage sheets; lined with natural cotton batting
Care Instructions: machine wash on delicate cycle, tumble dry on low or line dry
Note: can be pre-washed upon request, which will give the quilt a crinkly texture; please leave a note at time of purchase
Custom variations and sizes available upon request. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
All quilts are handmade by me and either personally or professionally long armed (as noted in description). My in-home studio is completely smoke and pet-free but I do have two dogs in my home (Fran and Millie!).
